Save Your Routines for the Right Moment!

Save Your Routines for the Right Moment!

What's up, Denver DJ School fam, Chonz here with your DJ tip.

Let's talk about routines. We all know DJs with crazy skills. Wordplay, quick cuts, tricks, routine after routine. When they're in the club, the other DJs are geeking out and loving every second.

But here's the thing: the crowd isn't. They came to hear the music. They want at least half the song, and you're already on to the next one. That's how you lose a room.

So should you stop doing routines? Nah. Do them in pockets.

Play around 15 minutes of straight party rocking. Mix clean and keep the floor moving. Then hit them with a quick 3-to-5-minute routine, a short little show. The crowd will be in awe, and your DJ homies will be impressed. Then go right back to rocking the party.

If you do routines all night long, they stop being special. Keep them rare, and they hit every time.

DJing is all about balance: your skills, the crowd, and the other DJs in the room. Master that balance, and you'll be the DJ everybody wants to book.
